“Au revoir”, Arsene.
It is a perfect translation of what Robin van Persie did by agreeing to move
over to the other side of Arsenal’s rival, Manchester united becoming the first
player to have switched from the Gunners to United since Viv Anderson in 1987.
Arsene Wenger’s practice of nurturing young talents, turning
them into super stars and failing to keep them has turned into a ghost that
hunts him so bad this past few years simply because these same players turn
their back at him when he needs them the most.
Probably, it might be Jack Wilshire’s
turn next summer. Just saying! Arsene Wenger was RVP’s attorney in Arsenal
Court room with his persistent injury-plagued seasons (seven seasons precisely)
where David Dein the presiding Judge had issued out a verdict concerning RVP
that he should be sold after the completion of 07-08 season and Emmanuel
Adebayor being Arsenal’s in-form and best striker then scoring 25 league goals.
Arsene Wenger being a loving and caring football Father showed empathy on the
Man utd bound RVP, his runaway son. No disrespect to Arsene, a decision Jose
Mourinho (The Special One) would have taken without blinking an eyelid. Arjen Robben
can testify to that.
Now let’s balance the wheel. On Arsene Wenger’s side, it is
a good plus for him. Why? The perfect cliché; Arsenal made extra £21m on RVP
because his sign-on fee from Feyenoord was £2.75m, we have heard that so many
times! What else? Good riddance to the injury-plagued RVP. I can see Man utd
fans laughing and rolling on the floor already.
Arsene Wenger has what it takes to stead Arsenal’s ship when
the stormy wind come calling. We saw what he did last season but the big
question; will he be able to do it without RVP? He did it when Marc Overmas and
Emmanuel Petit left for Barcelona in 2002, Patrick Viera (Captain fantastic)
left for Juventus in 2005, Thierry Henry(Igwe) left for Barcelona in 2007,
CescFabregas (Home calling) and Samir Nasri (Money calling) left for Barcelona
and Manchester City respectively in 2011.
“Yes, Arsene Wenger can do it. Let RVP GO!, at least he only
did Arsenal well for just one season”. Am so sure, those are the words running
on every arsenal fan lips. Barclays Premier league kicks off in the next 24hrs
and the world will see how Arsenal FC will cope with an RVP-less team.
